
did anyone lose weight by stop eating 4 hrs before bed,, i want u to tell me how it went, how much u lost ?
i want someone passed thru this to tell me their story. cuz i started doing this i found result the first two weeks, then it stopped. so i wanna know is this normal is it a phase i'm going thru and will end if i continued i will lose weight again...plz tell me about ur own experience no theories.
But firstly, do you know why eating before bed is generally considered bad? Most experts advice to stop eating 3 hours before bed. But the negative impact is not solely due to the act of eating before bed alone, it has to do with the type of foods as well. If you still have to eat before bed, then try as much to avoid foods with high carbohydrates. It is because when it gets nearer to bed time, your insulin sensitivity decreases. When you take lots of carbohydrates, your body will release more insulin to process those carbs. Higher insulin level will reduce fat burning, and it will also reduce generation of growth hormones, which are responsible to increase fat burning capability while you sleep.
My story of how I overcome before bed food craving
I dare to say that the reason of me being overweight is 70% due to eating at near bedtime. I usually leave my office at 8:30pm, and it takes 45 minutes for me to reach home. So, normally I will reach home at nearly 9:15pm. Due to my work schedule, my last meal was usually during lunch hour which was around 12:00pm. And because of that, I usually eat like mad once I reached home for dinner, despite of going to bed in another couple of hours.
As I finally aware, the reason I could not help my appetite during dinner is because I am starved. My strategy was to take a satisfying meal 2 hours before I left office. I make it a habit to have a break at 6:30 pm, and get a satisfying meal from a restaurant nearby my office. This strategy worked for me. I hope that it will work for you too. Next let us see what other strategies people are doing.
Fight those cravings by weight exercise
If you have had your satisfying meal, but still have the craving to eat near bedtime, then why don't you try this one. Do 6 to 7 minutes of intensive weight workout. Ideally, it is the one with light mass and high reps, concentrating to one muscle group. When completed, sit down with a protein drink and relax. This strategy will help to reduce appetite and craving for foods near bedtime.
Eat frequent small amount of foods throughout the day
It was found that by eating frequent small amount of meals, with 3 hours gap each, help to reduce appetite at night. In my case, I don't have the luxury to eat every 3 hours, so the best I can do is to take a satisfying meal before the red alert zone. But for those who can practice frequent eating, this strategy is definitely a better choice. Not only it will help to reduce near bed appetite, it will also help to optimize your digesting metabolism.
Worst case scenario, avoid carbohydrates
If for any reason, you still could not help to eat near bedtime, then try your best to avoid foods with high carbohydrates. Take proteins or vegetables. This should be able to minimize the impact to your body. I have a friend who also leaves offices at the same time as myself. Once, I had a chance to join him for dinner. Surprisingly he ate as much as I did, even if not more. But he stays slim, while my waist continues to increase size. At first I thought it was due to genetic factor, but after a few times having dinner with him, I realized that while the amount of foods were usually the same, he usually chose healthier foods compared to me.
