Can Cymbalta or Xanax Xr hinder weight loss attempts?
I have been on these 2 medications for around 2 1/2 months now. I haven't gained weight on them but I have been trying to lose weight since I started taking them by going to the gym nearly everyday and eating much healthier and it has been 2 months and I haven't lost any pounds or inches. What's the deal? I've never had any problems losing weight before taking this medication. Can you not lose weight if you take it?
Yes, Cymbalta can cause weight gain or weight loss. This drug will affect different people different ways, but it could affect your appetite and metabolism.
Xanax usually only causes weight gain when people eat freely after taking it. It doesn't seem like it affects you like that.
I would not be so quick to blame the drugs, but if you have successfully dieted before but are now failing, it could very well be the Cymbalta. Speak to your doctor if it is an issue. Wellbutrin was not as effective in treating my depression (though I was stable on it), but I did lose weight. It could be something to consider.
